How to Prepare for Spa Treatments

Mira Consultation

Preparing for your spa treatment involves taking certain steps to ensure you make the most out of your spa experience. Whether you are a seasoned spa-goer or having spa treatments for the first time, knowing how to prepare for your specific treatment will enhance its benefits and offer the safest, best and most comfortable outcome. In this post, we’ll look at some general ways to prepare for spa treatments, and some specific pre-treatment instructions for some of the spa treatments we offer here at Mira Spa & Salon. Be sure to visit our individual pages for pre- and post-treatment instructions as well.

What General Preparations Should I Make for Spa Treatment?

Different spa treatments may have specific preparation requirements, so it’s important to follow the instructions given to you by your spa provider. Overall, here are some tips to enjoying your spa treatment.

  • Communicate your needs, expectations and concerns in your consultation appointment. This helps the spa staff to tailor your treatment and ensure your comfort and satisfaction.
  • Follow your pre-treatment instructions. For example, you may be asked to avoid sun exposure, stop using certain skin care products, or refrain from taking specific medications prior to treatment.
  • Arrive early so you can check in, complete any paperwork and transition into a relaxed state of mind.
  • Dress comfortably. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement and maximizes your comfort.
  • Communicate openly with your spa provider during your treatment. Share any discomfort or preferences regarding pressure, temperature or any other aspect.
  • Stay hydrated to keep your skin and body in optimal condition and help eliminate toxins.
  • Follow aftercare instructions that may ask you to avoid certain activities, use recommended products or take additional steps to maximize the treatment benefits.

Personal Information You May Be Asked in Your Consultation

To provide you with the best and safest experience, your spa provider may ask for relevant information that will help customize your treatment to meet your specific needs. Information you should consider sharing can include:

  • Past or current medical conditions, surgeries, allergies or chronic illnesses like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, skin disorders, etc.
  • Medications including prescription, over-the-counter drugs, herbal supplements or vitamins. Some medications may interact with certain spa treatments.
  • Allergies or sensitivities to medications, skincare products or ingredients.
  • Skin sensitivities or conditions such as rosacea, eczema, psoriasis or acne.
